Perhaps I had an unreasonable expectation of how well and quickly I would recover. I knew it would take time but should have downgraded my thinking because while everyone I talked to who has had cataract surgery was very pleased with their results they certainly could ease into having a second eye to rely upon. I remain hopeful that everything will settle into a better view soon. My surgeon was quite pleased with the operation and since my eye is somewhat out of the ordinary that is very good news. I’ve not experienced any issues with flashes of light or floaters which is good news. I just wish my life wasn’t being affected as much as it is. How do people who can’t read in a world of words get by? At least I am quite comfortable with audiobooks and podcasts. I’m zipping through quite a lot of material right now. As long as things continue to improve I guess I will have to be satisfied by that.
Thoughts mostly about travel and places I have been. While a lot of my travel is into the backcountry backpacking or paddling I do my share of trips to more traditional front-country locations too. From time to time other items of note will appear that definitely fall outside the realm of travel and associated things. It is also worth noting that I am legally blind.

8 Days After Cataract Surgery

I'm sorry you've had such a difficult time after your surgery. I had eye surgery as a child and can remember that it took quite a while to heal. Once it did however, I found I had much better vision which improved my confidence no end. Good luck with you recovery!
I have to tell you that I have learned over the years that we all heal differently. I had the same surgery as my sister did, she was able to read and see colors that weekend, while it took me over a month before the fog started to clear. I was worried too, but eventually things did improve for me.
